Dentistry: What Makes Up the Cost of Dentistry

[Dog rolled onto its head]
Turn that frown upside down... or not!

As with human dentistry, the majority of the dental prophylaxis is carried out by the dental technician. The cost of a dental prophylaxis comes from the anaesthesia required, the time required and the degree of dental disease and tartar present. All extractions are carried out by the veterinarian and can significantly increase the cost of procedure due to the difficulty and time it takes to loosen and remove the teeth as well as the increased pain management required. A veterinarian can roughly estimate the requirements for extraction at the time of the assessment visit.
