Dr. Carty with Milly

Lisa grew up in Kemptville, just outside of Ottawa, and attended Carleton University for her Bachelor's of Science degree in Biochemistry. She then moved to Guelph where, in 2015, she graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College, and began practicing in Petawawa. She has since made her way back home to Ottawa and is happy to be a member of the Centertown staff. Growing up, there was always at least one dog in the household, but for most of her childhood she has had three dogs; all terrier mixes, and all rescue dogs. Her own dog Milly has been by her side while completing both degrees, and moving several times. Milly also proved to be an excellent study buddy for anatomy and large animal exams when she happily stood in for a horse and a cow from time to time.

After working with the SPCA for a whole day in North Bay, Lisa fell in love with two sweet cats named Tycho and Huxley, so that day, she was paid in cats and took the boys home...and they are worth every penny.

In her spare time Lisa loves trying new recipes in the kitchen and pretending to be a pastry chef. She also enjoys spending time in the great outdoors hiking, camping and kayaking.
