Elyse is from a small town about an hour outside of Ottawa. It was when she was seven, with the arrival of her first cat Clovis that it dawned on her she should work with animals. After much researching into the field, she finally decided to follow her dreams and become a Veterinary Technician.  She graduated in June 2005.

Her favorite aspects of being in such a loving career are providing the best care possible for each and every patient that comes to our hospital.   She also has a great interest in dental care of animals, radiology, and surgery.

Some of her interests outside of work are spending time with her family consisting of her two cats, Boo and Clover, and her new puppy Ayden.  As well as being outdoors at any time.

As our head technician, Erin is fulfilling a lifelong dream of working with animals. From a very young age she was bringing homing stray and found animals. Now it seems that she has found her forever home here at Centretown Vet. Erin received her Registered Veterinary Technician degree from Ridgtown Campus University of Guelph. She has a particular fondness for geriatric medicine, pharmacology, and behaviour therapy and medicine. Erin shares her life with a senior beagle named Betty, a husky/lab cross named F.O.R.D. (Found On Road Damaged) and three cats; Camille, Taitum, Timmy, and Bells. She also breeds fish… to many to name here.

Effie - Veterinary Technician

Effie grew up in the Lanark Highlands just north of Ottawa and has always had a genuine interest in animals although her life has taken many twists and turns to getting to a carrier in Animal Health. She originally trained as a Museum curator but realized that the stuffed and mounted kind of animals weren’t nearly as much fun and the real thing. She then trained as a Veterinary Assistant at Algonquin College. She has worked in Veterinary Medicine now for many years and finds it much less stuffy.

In the real world Effie lives with her husband and four year old son and their Dacshund Doug the dog.

Kaitlin has always loved animals but it wasn't until she adopted her first canine companion that she realised she wanted to work with and help animals everyday. Kaitlin graduated as a Certified Veterinary Technician from Algonquin College in 2014 and has thoroughly enjoyed working with Centretown Vet since graduating. She has knocked our socks off! Some of her favourite aspects of working at the Hospital are the dermatology cases, radiology, and of course the puppy kisses.

At home Kaitlin lives with her two dogs; Diesel the Boxer and Elvis the Dogue du Bordeaux. They all live happily together with a Cat named Ricky.

Kate grew up on a farm outside of Kingston and came to Ottawa in 2008 to attend Carleton University. She received her BSc in Environmental Science and then spent some time travelling. After spending a couple months in South Africa working at a Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre she knew working with animals would be a good fit for her. She came back to Ottawa and happened to meet Dr. Black in a hair salon. Dr. Black did a job interview while they got their hair done and Kate has happily been at Centretown ever since!

Pets have been part of her family since she was a child growing up on a farm in a tiny northern town. She now enjoys working at Centretown Veterinary Hospital as she gets to combine her experience and her love of animals with helping our clients and their beloved pets every day!

Jessie grew up in Ottawa. She obtained her Veterinary Assistant Diploma from Algonquin College. Receiving her first cat at the tender age of two she really hasn’t known life without some sort of animal, ranging from snakes and frogs to guinea pigs and hedgehogs. Her first job was with both Dr. Black and Dr. Boileau back in the day and we just couldn’t do without her. She thoroughly enjoys the surgical side of veterinary medicine and has a keen interest deignsin animal behavior, lapping up every talk or symposium offered on the subject. She is the proud owner of K-Do the 9 year old Pittbull and Drigger the handsome ginger cat who she adopted from Centretown.

Tania - Veterinary Assistant

Tania grew up in the small town of South Mountain just outside of Ottawa. She was always hanging around animals, large and small, trying to learn as much as she could about them. She graduated from St. Lawrence College in 2011 as a Veterinary Assistant and began working at mixed animal practice in the country, but she hankered after the "big smoke" of Ottawa. Tania and her German Shorthair Pointer Franklin now call Hintonburg home where she bikes to work no matter the weather. Franklin loves walking around town and hiking in Gatineau and often deins to bring Tania with him. When indoors they like to read, watch movies and are learning how to cook -actual- meals instead of frozen dinners.
