Dr Emma Thom joined the team at Centretown Vet Hospital in August 2023. She graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, London UK in 2000, and earned her certificate in Small Animal Practice (GPCertSAP) in 2004. She spent 6 years in small animal practice in the UK, before returning to Canada in 2006. After working as a locum in various Ottawa hospitals, she went to work full-time at the Merivale and Bytown Cat Hospitals and focused exclusively on cats for the next 15 years. The addition of her Labrador, Wilbur, to her family rekindled her interest and love of dogs, and she came to Centretown to go back to working with dogs as well as cats.
She shares her house with her husband and two daughters, 3 cats and, of course, the Wilbur dog. Her veterinary interests include all things feline (of course!), nutrition and geriatric medicine. Outside of veterinary medicine, she enjoys walking (and once walked the Camino de Santiago in Spain), knitting, reading mystery books, and baking.
